Vivian fans slam Ru Paul’s Drag Race Season 2 winner Tyra Sanchez over disturbing post about star’s death

RuPaul’s Drag Race star Tyra Sanchez shared a disturbing post about Vivian’s sudden death, sparking an intense backlash.

Vivienne, whose real name was James Lee Williams, shot to fame in 2019 when she won the inaugural edition of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, and tragically passed away last week at the age of 32 after a stellar career.

Police investigating the tragic star’s “sudden” death today confirmed there were “no suspicious circumstances”.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 2 winner Sanchez has been heavily criticized for a series of vile tweets as tributes pour in for one of Britain’s most famous drag queens.

Sanchez, formerly known as King Tyra and whose real name is James Ross, responded to a tweet from The Vivian in 2020 saying that his manager Simon Jones had confirmed his untimely death.

An old tweet from Vivian from nearly five years ago read: “Tyra must have been furious when she realized Netflix had ruined her win.” Sorry, gal. But you tried.

Mr Sanchez dug up Sunday’s historic tweet and wrote: “Still nothing compared to crematorium smoke.”

The twisted tweet drew criticism from fellow drag queens and fans.

Drag queen Candy Muse (real name Kevin Gabriel Candalario) said, “I’ve been defending you for years, but now you can absolutely go wild and if our paths cross… If there is, it will definitely be in front of us.” *This is a promise, not a threat. He’s disgusting. ”

But Sanchez responded that he had received “threats.” Prepare for the funeral. ”

The drag star later doubled down in a series of tweets, including one that read, “She’s dead.” It’s rotten. Sending me all the hate in the world won’t bring her back. But do what you have to do. Thanks to you, this tweet reached over 25,000 people. Thank you for giving me the attention I really needed. ”

Another X user posted: “You’re disgusting…shame on you.”

And another wrote: “This was so perverse.” As someone who once respected you, this is very cruel and disappointing. ”

Vivian’s death shocked RuPaul’s Drag Race fans around the world.

In an update on Monday, a Cheshire Police spokesperson said officers were called to Chorlton-by-Buckford at 12.22pm on Sunday following reports of a sudden death.

A spokesperson said: “Police were called to investigate the circumstances of the death of a 32-year-old man and concluded there were no suspicious circumstances.”

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”

This comes as The Vivian’s publicist Simon Jones confirmed the star’s death on Sunday, writing: “It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved James Lee Williams, The Vivian, passed away this weekend. I will inform you.”

“James was an incredibly loved, warm-hearted and wonderful person. Their family is saddened by the loss of a son, brother and uncle.

“They are very proud of the great things that James has achieved in his life and career. They will not share any details publicly.

“We ask that James’ family be given the time and privacy they need to grieve at this time.”

He continued, “These are words I never wanted to write. Viv was a close friend, a customer, and someone I loved very much.

“From the moment I met them in 2019, I became their manager because I knew we could create magic together. Their talent is immense and the light they bring into every room is amazing. No one in my life made me laugh as much as Viv. Their comic genius and wit were unparalleled.

“I’m so proud and lucky that Viv has been such a big part of my life every day for the past five years. The tragedy is that their careers were just beginning. , found a place and career they love, excel, and grow.

“Heartbroken and devastated to hear this news. Rest in peace my wonderful friend. You left us far too soon.

Vivian played the role of the Wicked Witch of the West in the UK and Ireland tour of The Wizard of Oz, and reprized the role in the West End at the Gillian Lynne Theater last year.

They were scheduled to return to tour next month and appear as the Child Catcher in the musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Before competing on the first series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK in 2019, The Vivians explained their name: “I love Vivienne Westwood and when I moved to Liverpool everyone called me Vivienne because I was head to toe in Westwood.”

Speaking about their drag style, Vivienne said: “My style is like a rich Scouse wife who moved to LA and blew it all up and then had to move back to Liverpool. ” he said.

RuPaul’s Drag Race said: “We are deeply saddened to learn of Vivian’s passing.”

The TV show said in a social media post that it was inspired by Williams’ “talent, humor and dedication to the art of drag.”

Fiona Campbell, the BBC’s director of youth audiences, said the news was “deeply saddening”, adding that the broadcaster was “deeply proud of Vivian’s achievements”.

Ms Williams, who competed on Dancing on Ice in the same year as former EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer, paid tribute to her, saying she was “speechless” and “deeply saddened”.

“You were so beautiful inside and out. I will never forget the experiences we shared on Dancing on Ice,” she wrote.
