Shortly after the announcement, Max posted a light-hearted joke from his hospital bed about Manchester City’s loss in Wednesday night’s football match.
Regarding his big meal on his birthday, he confessed: “I was sick for a week. The doctor looked at my liver and said my liver numbers were pretty low and there was nothing wrong with my liver. So I stopped.”

He tearfully confessed to Paul: “How do you deal with it?” I think there is no cure, so you just learn to move on with your life. But deal with it, absolutely not.
“I’m not. I’ll never think it’s okay. One of the last things I said to him was, like the whole journey up to joining the band, my whole life. It meant thanking him for making it better than ever.
“He was my best friend. Damn it. I just don’t want it to become a burden or be about anyone else.”
Max previously revealed that being sober has given him more clarity in life, despite having “really boring weekends”.
“I haven’t had a drink in 18 months,” he said last March. “Everyone’s saying, ‘You sure feel better, don’t you?'”
“No, weekends are really boring!” The whole week is dark as usual. I’m feeling great and it’s easier to stay healthy…well, everything is a lot clearer now. ”
