A scare broke out at Antioch High School around 11 a.m. Wednesday, when the gunman opened fire on two people before turning the gun on himself.
The two people killed were the 17-year-old gunman and a female student.
The other injured student was rushed to Vanderbilt University Hospital with abrasions to his arm, but his condition is stable. No further identifying details have been released.
Police said a fourth student was being treated for facial injuries but was not shot.
Horrifying footage showed a gunfight inside the cafeteria, with gunshots and screams echoing through the lunchroom.

“The person responsible for the shooting is no longer a threat. We will gather students in the auditorium and provide information regarding reunion as soon as possible.
“This is an active crime scene and investigation. We are working with MNPD and will provide further updates as they become available.”
A student who was in the cafeteria at the time of the incident described a horrifying scene.
“It looked like there were people being chased, so he started killing people,” the student said.
Chante Frye, whose daughter is a ninth-grader at the school, said she received a text from her daughter saying she was locked in a classroom.
“But that’s hardly surprising, since the situation is getting worse with fights and violence in schools,” Frye told The Tennessean.
John Ray Clemons, a local lawmaker whose district includes the school, called the shooting an “unspeakable tragedy.”
The Nashville Metro Police Department said the incident is under investigation.
