Greggs and Iceland have recalled the highly popular product due to ingredients that may pose a “potential health risk”.
A British bakery chain has recalled two-packs of its Steak Bake products, which were only sold in Iceland, because they contained undeclared sulfites.
A statement from the Food Standards Agency revealed that “due to a packaging error” some packs contained sausage, beans and cheese melts containing sulphites.
These were incorrectly packaged in steak grill packages, so the label didn’t show sulfites.
As a result, the product was deemed a “possible health risk” for people with “sensitivity to sulfur dioxide and/or sulfites.”
In a statement outlining its advice to customers, Mr Greggs said: “If you have purchased the above product and have a sensitivity to sulfur dioxide or sulphites, please do not consume it.”
Instead, return it to the nearest Icelandic store where you purchased it for a full refund.
