Wimbledon day three: hope for more home success with Raducanu and Murray

Emma Raducanu and Andy Murray will lead the British charge to Wimbledon Wednesday.

The British grand slam champions are in action on center court after Novak Djokovic opened the matchday three proceedings on the main stage.

A number of home favorites will be in contention to reach the knockout stages, while Harriet Dart will be aiming to become the 10th Briton in the singles draw when she finally steps onto the grass for her first-round contest.

The doubles competition begins on Wednesday and Joe Salisbury, the world’s number one ranked player, will begin his quest to win at the All England Club following his previous successes at the Australian Open and US Open. He is one of 28 British players in action in the singles, doubles and mixed doubles events on matchday three of SW19.

Ukrainian duo Lesia Tsurenko and Anhelina Kalinina will face off in the second round on Wednesday on Court 12, knowing that whoever succeeds can focus on the war in their home country.

Kalinina sends money back to her family while Tsurenko revealed on Monday that nothing seemed important due to the devastation brought by Russia.

Elsewhere, Andy Murray’s last clash with John Isner in 64 could easily go the distance, while British number one Cameron Norrie gets the Court One billing against Jaume Munar.
