TEESIDE-based radio DJ Simon Bolton died tragically on Christmas Eve after being hospitalized on Covid-19.
He worked at Zetland FM at the time of his death at the age of 54.

Simon Bolton was a Teeside based radio presenter He worked for Redcar & Cleveland’s Zetland FM and joined the station at launch in 2015.
According to a statement released by the station, Simon was “born and raised” in a red car and attended Sacred Heart School.
Simon was survived by his 17-year-old wife Joan and his 16-year-old daughter Leila.
After his death Joan said: “He was well known to people! He had a good gob for him, he was able to speak for England!”
“Being a radio moderator was what he wanted to do,” she added.
How did Simon Bolton die?
He was infected with the virus on Wednesday, December 22, and died tragically on Christmas Eve two days later.
On December 26th, Zetland FM shared sad news with Simon fans.
They said in a statement:
Simon had previously suffered from health problems and had begun making shows at home after having to amputate his leg.
