ESSEX and Hertfordshire have joined London to become the latest region of England and have entered Tier 3 restrictions.
In a statement to the Commons, Matt Hancock announced that London, Essex and parts of Hertfordshire would be in Tier 3. The changes will take effect from midnight on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.

Which part of Essex is in Tier 3?
Matt Hancock announced at Commons that Essex will be in Tier 3 from December 16, 2020.
Under Tier 3, pubs and bars that do not provide enough food must be closed.
The same applies to casinos, adult arcades, and soft play centers.
However, non-required shops can remain open under Tier 3 restrictions.
Eleven areas in Tier 3 cover bustling towns such as Basildon, Chelmsford and Braintree.
Saloc will also be affected, and the popular seaside resort Southend-on-Sea will face new challenges.

The UK’s updated hierarchy system was first reviewed on December 14, 2020.
Under review. The Government will consider the views of the Director of the Regional Public Health Department, along with the final decision made by the Cabinet Committee on whether there are areas where the hierarchy should be changed.

The tiers across the UK have since been reviewed every two weeks, with the next date scheduled for December 28, 2020.
However, the exact end date of the tier is unknown at this time and may continue to reflect the large number of cases in the two counties.
After the fourth review on 27 January, Tier regulations will be brought back to Congress.
