The match against Cole Lane ended 2-2, but the strange end of the match at Belfast overshadowed it.

BBC footage suggests that McCulley was responsible to Burns for Cassile Friel to be able to stroke a slow equalizer in front of him after a break forward from the midfield.

While the Korerain players were celebrating the goal, McCulley raced towards Burns in the penalty area, pressing his face down to the floor.

The keeper appears to be wearing a shirt and pulling Burns off the floor before other players intervene.

The BBC’s Alvin McCaig, who reported on the game, said:

“But then McCulley was forced to stand up and compete for Burns, rush out and show referee Andrew Davie a red card.”

McCulley, who represented the Republic of Ireland under the age of 21, spent six years at the Wanderers, made seven senior appearances, and cast several loan spells at other clubs before leaving in 2016.

Since then, he has cast a two-year spell with Ross County in Scotland before returning to his hometown, playing for teams such as Dundalk, Cliftonville, and now Glentoran.

Conor McKendry gave Coleraine and an early lead, but Jay Donnelly’s brace seemed to ensure Glenn’s victory before the late fireworks.
