Vault City secures a sour beer partnership with supermarket Morrisons

S

a raft of brewers Vault City has signed an agreement with the Morrisons supermarket chain to stock the sour beer product.

The partnership will see Morrisons stock two new and exclusive ranges from the Edinburgh brewer in its 497 stores across the UK.

New flavors have appeared – Dark Fruits and Peach & Passion Fruit Bellini created exclusively for the launch of the supermarket.

The deal is the supermarket’s latest major partnership for the business. The craft beer brand is stocked in more than 600 Tesco stores.

Stephen Smith-Hay, co-founder of Vault City, said: “We are delighted to have our beer launched in Morrisons. This is an important milestone for Vault City and a great opportunity for us to continue bringing sour beers to new audiences.

“We wanted to create something that would help push the boundaries of what people normally expect from beer.

“Both Dark Fruits and Peach & Passion Fruit Bellini are brand new beers that we’ve brewed exclusively for Morrison’s. It’s amazing to think that they will be on the shelves in all 497 stores.”

Smith-Hay co-founded Vault City in 2018. According to the company, turnover exceeded £2m for the first time this year.

It has more than 400 listings and recently raised more than £40,000 from around 300 crowdfunding investors to fund the launch of a new pub, The Porty Vault, near the brewery in Edinburgh’s Portobello.

It will serve as a sister home to its first outlet, The Wee Vault, in the city’s Haymarket area.
