New Delhi [India], April 8 (ANI): A unique initiative in every sense, artificial intelligence (AI) has become long-lasting by digitally preserving the world-famous 2nd century BC Ajanta Caves murals. .. Safe from all kinds of disasters for many lifetimes and for the benefit of the next generation.
Headquartered in Mumbai, a data management company, this initiative is to leverage modern technology to restore and preserve Ajanta’s paintings, in parallel with efforts being made around the world. ..
A digitized form of these paintings, the Ajanta Caves in the Aurangabad district of India, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They are preserved on an island called Svalbard in Norway as part of a project called the Arctic World Archives.
In addition to Ajanta’s paintings, digital artifacts from around the world are preserved, including manuscripts from the Vatican Library, political history, masterpieces of different eras, scientific advances, and treasures of contemporary culture.
To dig a little deeper into the process of this digitization initiative by Sapio Analytics, which also operates in the UK and Silicon Valley, they used a dataset of references to develop an AI mannequin called Ancient AI.
“This is the Indian Century and our cultural history should be available all over the world,” said London-based Balkrishna Choolun, co-founder of Ajantahc from India and chairman of UITV. I will. ” UITV is working together to digitize, restore and preserve the ancient Indian heritage associated with the culture, artwork and artifacts of India and other Asian countries. “In addition, we plan to promote the work of contemporary Indian artists to viewers around the world,” said Cholun.
The Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Roorkee expert selected for this project has developed this AI that uses deep learning techniques to restore damaged murals in the Ajanta Caves.
Experts believe that digital restoration does not change the original artwork, and the steering of this work is an artwork historian familiar with the field so that the restoration matches the original work of the masterpiece.
Not only that, the team working on the restoration work also includes cultural experts, including photographers, artists and new era technology experts.
How does this restore work? For example, a damaged area of a mural is restored by changing the pixels of the damaged element by mathematical reasoning of adjacent undamaged parts. High-end pixel-level scanning of documented photos of the original artwork helps in the digitization process. Therefore, this is a combination of manual digital restoration and artificial intelligence trained restoration. (ANI)
