Ukrainian attack helicopters ‘strike oil facility WITHIN Russia’: Video shows rockets fired from planes blowing up storage depot 20 miles from border

  • Ukrainian troops have attacked an oil facility in Russia, according to Russian regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov
  • Gladkov said the site in Belgorod was attacked by Mil Mi-24 helicopter gunships, with two workers injured but expected to survive
  • Footage shared on social media showing the attack at 5:43 local time, followed by helicopters flying away from the burning site
  • The Ukrainian government has yet to confirm the attack, and analysts have warned to be aware of a ‘false flag’ attack carried out by Russia
  • Belgorod, home to 369,000 people, is only 25 miles from the Ukrainian border, and 50 miles from the disputed city of Kharkiv
  • As confirmed, it will be the second time Ukraine has attacked Russia after the Millerovo air base, 100 kilometers from Luhansk, was attacked in late February.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, appointed by Vladimir Putin in 2020, said that two of Ukraine’s military helicopters hit a fuel depot in the Russian city of Belgorod on Friday after crossing the border at low altitude.

The resulting fire injured two workers, Gladkov added, while some areas in the city, near the Ukrainian border, were evacuated.

Video shared on social media showed the attack taking place at 5:43 a.m. local time, followed by helicopters flying away from the fire.

The Ukrainian government has yet to confirm the incident.

The Russian city of 369,000 people is 25 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, and 50 kilometers from Kharkiv, in eastern Ukraine.

Earlier this week, initial reports claimed that Ukraine had attacked Belgorod. Later it became more likely that the explosion at a weapons depot near Belgorod was the result of a human error, and not a Ukrainian air strike.

If the helicopter attack is confirmed in the early hours of Friday, it will simply be the second Ukrainian strike on Russian territory since the start of the war after the Millerovo air base was attacked in late February.

On Tuesday, similar images of a huge explosion appeared in Belgorod, at the site of a suspected weapons depot.

The depot was initially believed to have been hit by a Ukrainian rocket. However, analysts later concluded that the explosion was likely due to human error, rather than a deliberate attack.

Ukrainian journalist Yuriy Butusov claimed that the depot was destroyed by an OTR-21 Tochka-U ballistic missile fired by the Ukrainian 19th Missile Brigade, but his report was not confirmed by Ukrainian officials.

Gladkov, the regional governor, confirmed reports of the blast, saying no Russian citizens were injured, but refused to shed any light on the reason for the explosion.

“Explosions were heard on the territory of Belgorod and the Belgorod region,” Gladkov said.

‘The incident took place near the village Krasniy Oktyabr. The head of the village contacted me directly and gave me all the information. There were no casualties or injuries to residents. ‘

“I will post the reason for this later,” he added.

Russian news agency TASS, however, reported that four Russian soldiers were wounded and said preliminary reports suggested the explosion was caused by a Ukrainian missile.

‘The shell hit the territory of a temporary military camp in the Belgorod region. Four soldiers were wounded, ‘said a source close to TASS.
