Uber’s rival Bolt enters car sharing and launches Bolt Drive

Bolt, Estonian Ride Hailing and Micromobility Company Has added a new car-sharing service to its product basket in the mobility segment called Bolt Drive. The new service has been rolled out to become a comprehensive mobility app.

Bolt drive car sharing service

The new Bolt Drive Car Sharing Service allows customers to rent a car for a short period of time via the Bolt app. This makes the company Europe’s first mobility platform that offers car sharing, ride hailing, micromobility with scooters and electric bikes all in one app.

How does it work?

Bolt Drive is a free-floating car-sharing service. This allows customers to see the nearest vehicle via gps and book a car via the app. As you can see in the app, you can unlock your car on your mobile phone and drop it anywhere in the city to get started. Interestingly, you don’t have to pay for parking or fuel.

Markus Villig, CEO of Bolt, said: They are responsible for transportation, environmental emissions and occupancy of urban space. Bolt’s mission is to help people give up their cars by providing better alternatives. Bolt Drive now covers the rest of your use cases, whether you’re traveling to a shopping center or on a weekend vacation. Customers can always access their car from the same apps they already use for scooters, electric bikes and ride hailing. “

Launched in Europe this year

Bolt will invest 20 million euros (about £ 17m) to launch Bolt Drive in Europe this year. Initially, he will start as a pilot in Estonia. Bolt will provide Tallinn pilots with approximately 500 cars for the Bolt Drive. In addition, more cities are in the pipeline to expand their services. In most cases it will expand in Europe. When UKTN asked if the new service would soon be available in the UK, Bolt said, “We are not ready to disclose future plans at this time.” Take a look at this space for the next update.
