Two men were killed and a woman was seriously injured in a collision with Honda on suspicion of a stolen car after police chase.

The deceased was at Volkswagen Golf Newcastle It didn’t stop when police officers instructed him to do so, Northumbria police said.

Police added that there was another man in the car who was injured in the crash.

The car was kicked out by a police officer who had been warned that it might have been stolen around 8:30 am.

Just 30 minutes later, around 9 am, the vehicle was involved in a collision with Honda on the barracks road.

Emergency services such as ambulances and fire departments participated in the collision site.

Police said two men in golf had been declared dead on the scene.

Another man, also in the car, was seriously injured and taken to the hospital.

The woman in Honda was also taken to the hospital.

Relatives of the dead are informed and supported by trained police officers, a military spokesman said.

The Northumbrian police have made a compulsory referral of itself to an independent office for police action to carry out an independent investigation.

“The two were sadly killed in a serious car accident in Newcastle,” police said in a statement.

“Around 8:30 am today, an officer was warned about Volkswagen Golf, which was suspected of being stolen.

“The car didn’t stop at the direction of the police. After a while, golf collided with Honda on Barrack Road in Newcastle around 9am.

“A paramedics attended and it was confirmed that two male golf crew members had died on the scene.

“Their relatives have been notified and are assisted by specially trained officers.

“Golf’s third male crew member was seriously injured and taken to the hospital with a female Honda crew member.

“The road was closed shortly after the incident and is expected to remain closed for several hours.

“Unsurprisingly, in this type of case, we referred the case to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IOPC) and confirmed that the Independent Police Complaints Commission would conduct the investigation.”
