A 26-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, both rugby players, have been charged with murder following the death of a 1-year-old infant in New Bilton, Rugby. Police responded to reports of the child in cardiac arrest on January 7 and the baby later died at the hospital. The couple faces charges of murder and causing or permitting the death of a child, while the man is also charged with possessing indecent images. Police were called to the New Bilton area of Rugby on Tuesday after receiving reports that a child had gone into cardiac arrest. The baby was taken to a hospital, where she died, police said.
A 26-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, rugby players, have both been charged with murder and causing or leaving the death of a child.
The man has also been charged with possessing indecent images. They are due to appear at Coventry Magistrates’ Court today.
A Warwickshire Police spokesperson said: “At 4.37am on Tuesday (January 7) we received reports of an infant in cardiac arrest at a home in the New Bilton area of the town.”
