Thor MP Crispin Blunt has been criticized for questioning the conviction of his colleague Imran Ahmad Khan.

But Mr Blunt, who was in court in London on Monday, said the case was “based on lazy hints about LGBT + people”, adding that the result had “terribly far-reaching consequences” for LGBT Muslims “around the world”.

Labor MPs condemned Mr Blunt’s questioning of the jury’s verdict, and the party’s shadow equality secretary, Anneliese Dodds, said the comments were “disgraceful”.

He called on Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Thorin’s leader Oliver Dauden to “take action” against the former justice minister and “remove their party from his comments”.

Mr. Blunt, a Reigate MP, appeared in 2010 as the gay chairman of the LGBT + inter-party group.

On Monday night, Labor MP Chris Bryant և SNP member Stuart MacDonald was among the members of the group who resigned in protest.

Bryant said Blunt’s comments were “completely inappropriate,” and MacDonald tweeted: “Parliament needs a respected, strong LGBT group. Crispin can no longer provide that leadership.”

Veteran Thor MP Sir Peter Botomli, the father of the House of Commons, was also in court on Monday, he told the PA news agency. “It was not the verdict I was expecting.

“If the appeal is canceled, the decision of the jury following the summary must be respected.”

Khan has yet to be convicted, but his legal team has said he intends to appeal the verdict.

Asked if the party agreed with Mr Blunt, Tory’s spokesman reiterated that Khan had been removed from Boris Johnson’s outfit, adding: “Our point of view is quite clear.”
