The Strictly Come Dancing 2022 professional team was announced before this year’s series.
Nadiya Bichkova, Katya Jones and winner in the series Giovanni Pernice are the dancing stars returning to the hit ballroom show for a new spin on the dance floor, as the account was revealed during BBC Morning Live on Thursday.
After the two-time winner came out Oti Mabuse and Aljaž Škorjanec – who both recently revealed they are leaving the program – Strictly bosses have yet to add new professionals to this year’s lineup, annoyed that newcomers can still be announced.

Other returning professionals include Diane Buswell, Graziano Di Prima, Amy Dowden, Karen Hower, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Cameron Lombard and Gorka Marquez.
The full cast ends with Luba Muschuk, Giovanni Jovita Psistal, Johannes Radebe, Kai Vidrington and Nancy Xu.
Sarah James, executive producer, says: We could no longer be proud of Strictly Professional Dancers and we are so happy that so many are back in 2022.
“The world-class skills and the exceptional care they bring to everything they do, from working with their celebrities to choreography and performing remarkable and unforgettable combinations, never cease to amaze us.
They are back: Nadia Bichkova, Katya Jones and the winner of the series Giovanni Pernis are the dancing stars who are returning to the hit ball show for another spin on the dance floor, as the account was revealed during BBC Morning Live on Thursday
“They really are the best in business and we can’t wait to see what they will bring to the Strictly Ballroom for our twentieth great series.”
Following the announcement, Morning Live presenters Gatine Jenkins and Sarah Davis joined Katya, Kai, Karen and Luba in the studio as they spoke about their excitement to rejoin the show.
Karen joked: “I’m 127 years old … it will be until the 11th series! This is the best show, the best work, the work with the best people. It’s always amazing to come back. To bring happiness to all.
Kai, meanwhile, covered her amazing first season last year and said: “I made the finale with the amazing AJ. We couldn’t dance the finale, but it was a really fun series.
But Katya said, “It’s not as bad as getting a covid and having to leave!”
Katya was asked about the “tension” on the set around Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, after it was announced that professionals were divided over whether the Russian stars of the show should continue to appear.
However, she insisted: “This is complete nonsense, we always support each other. The invasion is completely wrong, it should not happen. We have regular contacts with Nikita [Kuzmin], he was very proactive. I find it so frustrating to see what they are going through. There is nothing in our group but support.
Luba, meanwhile, said: “It was really frustrating to see so much misinformation – we are just for love. We think of the victims and the people who are fighting.
Russian-born Katya, 32, and Lyuba, 32, were born in St. Petersburg. While two of the professionals – Nikita Kuzmin, 24, and Nadia Bichkova, 32 – are both of Ukrainian descent.
A Strictly Come Dancing source said earlier: “The tension is high and there is a very strong sense of it, some of the dancers would like the producers to make a decision and say, ‘You can’t go back for the next series.’
“Some of the professionals think that it is bad taste to have them in the show, this has been discussed among a group of them and they are worried that it will affect the program and cause a negative reaction.
“Given that they are on the biggest TV show, they are already open to criticism and are worried that this will only cause controversy.”
Earlier this week, Aljage announced he was ready to leave Strictly welcome dancing after nine years on the show as a professional dancer.
In a statement posted earlier this morning on social media, Aljaje said: “On a beautiful sunny day in May 2013, a phone call changed my life forever!”
Goodbye: Aljage announces he will leave Strictly Come Dancing after nine years on the show as a professional dancer
It happened … we would like to offer you a position in @bbcstrictly as a professional dancer. A dream came true and it was the biggest opportunity for a 23-year-old boy from Slovenia.
“It didn’t matter how many beautiful ballrooms you performed in during your racing career, stepping on the sacred floor of Strictly was the most nervous I’ve ever been.
I recently made the difficult decision that Strictly 2021 will be my last. The show gave me the opportunity and freedom to create and express myself in front of millions of people every weekend for the last 9 years.
“The love and support I received from the production team was unsurpassed. Jason Gillickison, Sarah James, Kim Winston, Jack Gladhill are just some of the unsung characters behind the show’s success – I’m grateful to them forever!

“Being part of a group of professionals who inspire you and push you to be better every step of the way is humiliating and I will carry that inspiration with me forever. Every year the composition of the dancers changed, but one thing remains the same, WE WERE THE BEST! And that’s one thing I know will never change on Strictly!
‘Strictly, there is also the BEST team behind the scenes – a team for hair and make-up, a department for costumes, lighting, sound, props and special effects, operators … THANK YOU!’
Alijaz, who won the Glitterball trophy in his first year at the BBC, continued to pay tribute to the nine celebrities he danced with on the show, writing: “My beautiful partners – Abby Clancy, Alison Hammond, Helen George, Daisy Lowe, Kate Silverton, Gemma Atkinson, Emma Weymouth, Clara Ampho and Sarah Davis.
Popular: The professional dancer joined the show in 2013, his latest partner being Dragons Den star Sarah Davis
Beloved: Alijaz’s fellow professional dancers, strict judges and famous partners commented on his resignation statement
It is difficult to describe in words how many beautiful memories we had. I LOVE YOU ALL!’
He also had sweet words for his wife, Janet, gushing: “On my coat … from picking songs, creating stories and choreographing steps, we always did it as a team. Your talent and selflessness know no bounds.
“We went out when we started together on the show and now we are husband and wife. We have to play with Andrea Bocelli, Michael Buble, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, the BBC Symphony Orchestra … moments that I will keep in my heart forever. I LOVE YOU!’
Couple: He follows in the footsteps of his wife, Janet Manrara, who announced her departure from the professional cast last year when she moved to host It Takes Two (pictured in the show in 2021).
“Finally, thank you, the people who watch Strictly, who have been so kind to me all these years. Every comment, vote, kind message never goes unnoticed. You are the reason we all do it, thank you! ‘
“I have a lot of exciting things planned, which I will tell you about soon. I can’t wait to see what the future holds! KEEP DANCING! ‘

During his nine series, he gave us some unforgettable moments in the show through his amazing choreography, passion for dance and golden heart. He will be missed by his Strictly family, both on and off the dance floor, and we wish him only the best as he embarks on his next chapter.
Strictly Come Dancing, BBC Studios Entertainment Production for the BBC, will return for its twentieth great series on BBC One and BBC iPlayer later in 2022.
