According to statistics, the number of police shot on duty has doubled in a year.
From April 2020 to March 2021, 23 police officers were injured in guns, up from 12 in the last 12 months.
It also increased from 17 in 2018-19.
Six officers were shot dead while on duty in 2017-18, down from nine in 2016-2017.
