On July 11, 2022, police released a gruesome image of Keina bleeding from the head.
In the recording of the 999 call, she told the operator: “Please, please, there’s blood everywhere. Please help me… hurry up.”

Welling was seen crying in the back of a police van after being arrested on July 11, 2022 on suspicion of assault.
Keena continued, “I just don’t feel well…I just need to sit down.”

She added: “I’m actually bleeding.” I just woke up. I lost consciousness.
“It’s really raining on my face, but I don’t know what happened. Well, I know what happened, but I don’t know how the injury happened.”
When officers arrived, they found Keena bleeding from the head and the towel rack in the bathroom damaged.
The violent attack left blood splattered in the hallway and on window ledges.

She left her 9-month-old daughter at home with a suicide note that read “It’s over.” I fought hard and fought long. I experienced pain that no one could imagine.
“I was killed. Ryan Wellings killed me. He ruined all the power I had left. I didn’t deserve it.
“I hope that my life will be saved by the quick response of the police. Bullies should not be allowed to live free.”

Wellings, who was convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, took advantage of her condition and abused her, ultimately driving Keena to suicide.
She also apologized to her daughter for “having to let you go” and said the world had “turned its back” on her.
Kiena said she hopes the baby will be “kept away from the monster called father.”
After leaving her baby and suicide note at a friend’s house, she went to a country road and was then hit by a high-speed train.
The court heard the couple had been in an “intense” and abusive relationship for two years.
Keena had been diagnosed with emotionally unstable personality disorder, which causes increased impulsivity, low self-esteem and difficulty with relationships.
Mr Wellings had previously been convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, and took advantage of her condition to abuse her and ultimately drive Keena to suicide.
He accused her of cheating, called her a “slut,” threw feces at her, and even told her to kill herself.
At one point, he held Keena’s head under the water in the bath and said, “Say goodbye to your baby.”

He also threw acid on her face, saying it would make her “look like Katie Piper” and threatening to pull out her teeth with a drill.
Lancashire Police introduced themselves as police watchdogs after Kiena’s death, as she had sought police help and recorded injuries from the abuse.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched an investigation into whether officers acted quickly enough following concerns about the safety of the Kiena.
It was previously announced that one officer would face a gross misconduct lawsuit and two others would be charged with misconduct.
Mr Wellings is remanded in custody ahead of sentencing.
