The long-awaited new Lord of the Rings series has finally been given a title and release date as part of the show’s teaser trailer.
Set thousands of years before the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogy event, the Rings of Power will be on screen on September 2nd of this year.
The Rings of Power will combine Tolkien’s Second Age events and the forging of those famous rings, Amazon said.
The teaser trailer provides very little information, but you can hear the ring berth recital in the narration. This shows who was supposed to get a powerful ring.
Showrunners JD Pain and Patrick Mackay said:
“The Rings of Power connect all the major stories of the Second Age of Middle-earth: the forging of the ring, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the epic story of Númenor, and the final alliance of elves and men.
“Until now, the audience only saw the story of one ring on the screen, but before it became one, there were many … and we decided to share all those epic stories. I am excited.”
The first season was wrapped last year in New Zealand, where Peter Jackson’s film trilogy was produced, and production was moved to the United Kingdom for a second installation.
Fans are returned to an era when hope hangs on the thread while the great powers rule, the kingdoms move up and down, heroes are tested, and evil covers Middle-earth.
Not only new characters but also familiar characters will appear, and viewers will head to Misty Mountain, Lindon’s Elven Kingdom, and the islands of Númenor.
Payne and McKay will be the showrunners for the series, and JA Bayona, Charlotte Brandstrom and Wayne Yip will be the directors.
The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video on September 2nd.
