The 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games will host the edtech summit

A summit focusing on global education, skills, edtech and sustainable research and research will be held at the UK House, The Commonwealth Business Hub, during the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games on Friday 29 July 2022.

UK House is a platform that brings together business and government leaders to discover international partnership opportunities and innovations for sustainable growth.

The one-day program will address how education technology can be effectively implemented over the next five years and how skills development can enable lifelong careers.

It will also look at how university research can inform government policy, including environmental protection and climate action.

Registration for Education Day at UK House is open to international governments, education practitioners, UK industry bodies, businesses and exporters interested in the latest innovations in global education and skills.

Whether attending in person or online, delegates will discover how education can enable social mobility, improve access, drive economic activity and inform government policy.

Sessions include:

  • Professional and future-oriented global skills opportunities
  • EdTech
  • International collaboration for global challenges: translating university skills into action
  • International educational strategy and science, business and policy for environmental action hosted by the University of Birmingham

Confirmed speaker Sir Steve Smith, DIT and UK Government International Education Champion, said: “Education and skills are key to sustainable growth, from edtech and lifelong learning to the role universities play in ‘face global challenges.

“This is an opportunity to hear from the experts driving innovation in the UK and helping to support change in education systems around the world.”

Hosted by the UK Department of International Trade, in partnership with the West Midlands Growth Company, UK House is part of the Business and Tourism Program. It is the first program of its kind to align with the Commonwealth Games.
