Strictly’s Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice look pensive as they leave hotel together

Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice were seen stepping out of their Borehamwood hotel ahead of Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing final.

EastEnders actress Rose, 27, and her professional dance partner Giovanni, 31, checked into the same accommodation near the studios of the BBC ballroom dance studios for two nights this week.

Soap star Rose, who plays Frankie Lewis in EastEnders, wore a quilted khaki coat over a white hoodie which she teamed with black leggings as she headed to rehearsals on Thursday.

Giovanni could be seen dressed all in black as he followed closely behind Rose, carrying a suit in a garment bag in his hand.

The star made his way to a taxi with Rose as they prepared to compete against fellow finalists John Whaite, 32, and Johannes Radebe, 34, in Saturday’s final.

Italian Giovanni and Rose both looked glamorous as they returned to the hotel later that evening after appearing on Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two together.

Rose had slipped into a figure hugging floral print dress with flashes of green and red, and suede knee-high boots.

Meanwhile, Giovanni looked dapper in a grey checkered blazer with onyx trousers and matching shirt and tie.

They were later seen enjoying dinner together in the hotel resturant.

During his appearance on It Takes Two, the dancer revealed that his Strictly highlight has been spending every day with Rose in the dance studio, adding that teaching the show’s first deaf contestant has been a ‘rewarding’ experience.

Rose, who is tipped to win the series, praised Giovanni for ‘accepting’ her the way she is – while the pair said they would be ‘friends for life’.

Giovanni said: ‘I have been in the show long enough to be ready to challenge myself and in Rose I had the perfect partner to do that.

‘From day one positivity has been the key to our relationship and that’s the reason I think we’re such a great team.

‘I always say I’m the one privileged to be able to do this journey with Rose – if she was doing it with somebody else, I would be quite jealous! Big time.

‘I might be the dance teacher but for me the highlight has been spending every single day in the studio with Rose, her positivity, the happiness I have every single day, it has been joyful, and it is the first time I don’t want this to finish.’

The pair were later spotted returning to their hotel before leaving early on Friday morning for their final day in the rehearsal studio.

The television presenter and her professional dance partner Kai Widdington, 26, broke down in tears on Friday’s It Takes Two as they made their first TV appearance after being forced to quit the show.

Speaking to host Rylan Clark-Neal, ‘gutted’ AJ wiped away tears after watching a clip of their Strictly journey, as she remarked: ‘It wasn’t the way we wanted to come out.’

AJ explained: ‘Do you know what, we had the best time and on Monday we rehearsed and we were just excited like, “Right, we’re going to do the jive, we’re going to do the Charleston, what a way to end our experience.”

‘My ankle’s given way and my ligament has ruptured and it’s just not gonna happen. We’re gutted because we were ready to smash it.

‘This isn’t the way that we wanted to go out, obviously, but even just looking back at all of those moments, it’s just been an absolute pleasure dancing with Kai every single week, so thank you.’

Meanwhile, Kai reflected on their two energetic dances and told how they were ‘hoping to change them’ to make it easier for AJ, but added that her injury was just ‘too bad’.

Heartfelt: 'I always say I'm the one privileged to be able to do this journey with Rose ¿ if she was doing it with somebody else, I would be quite jealous! Big time,' said Giovanni

The pro dancer added that he’s glad they ‘went out on a high from last week’ after topping the leader board and bagging their first perfect score of 40 points.

AJ said in a statement on Friday: ‘I’m deeply upset that I am unable to perform in the final due to a torn ligament in my right ankle. Learning to dance over the last 13 weeks has been an incredible honour and to do it alongside someone as special, patient and devoted as Kai is something I’ll treasure forever.

‘Thank you to the Strictly family for the experience, the medical team for trying to get me back on my feet and mostly, to everyone at home for watching and supporting. You’ve made this experience one to remember.

‘Strictly Come Dancing has been a lifelong dream and I’m glad it came true. Good luck to my partners in dance, John and Johannes and Rose and Giovanni. I will be cheering you on (on one leg!)’

AJ had been hoping to push through the injury and even offered to dance in her medical boot so she could compete with dance partner and rumoured boyfriend Kai, but medical professionals deemed her unfit to compete.

Elsewhere, it had been reported that the run time for Saturday’s final will now be significantly shorter now it has one couple down, though it’s not clear by how much.

Now Saturday’s live final will see just John and Johannes, and Rose and Giovanni compete for the Glitterball Trophy, with a source telling MailOnline that the last minute drama is a ‘disaster’.
