Charles SchwartzElle After finishing 3rd at AT & T Byron Nelson on the PGA Tour last week, he could be ranked 48th on the latest list of official World Golf Rankings and soon re-enter the Top 100 at 109th.
With his rise in status, Schwartzel could quickly reach 11 as he surpasses Justin Harding, Wilconina Bar and Shaun Norris and has 10 South Africans in the top 100 of the world.
Among the top 10 in South Africa, there were only a few moves and everything was almost unchanged. Most notable of these is Dean Burmester’s rise from 93rd to 89th after finishing 6th at the Betfred British Masters on the European Tour. It saw him swap positions on the Branden Grace and South African lists.
Leading South Africa ahead of the PGA Championship, which will tee off Thursday, the second major championship of the year, is Louis Oosthuizen, who moved from 1st place to 31st place.
With all 10 of the world’s top 100 South Africans playing with Schwartzel on Kaiwer Island, North Carolina, there could be considerable movement between these players.
