Sarah died on September 5, and her mother Maria confirmed her death in a statement shared on the star’s Instagram account.

Confirming Sarah’s death, her mother, Marie, wrote:

“Many of you will know that she fought Sarah’s cancer, and she fought so hard from diagnosis to the last day.

Emotional: Girls Aloud's singer, who died of breast cancer in September at the age of 39, was commended in the In Memorial segment and fans wept.
