Russia has threatened to make Europe ‘disappear’ if Western leaders deliver nuclear weapons to Ukraine.

One of Vladimir Putin’s top political allies, Viacheslav Volodin, warned that such a move would provoke a ‘nuclear conflict’ on the continent.

As a key figure in Russian politicsand one of the first officials to publicly support the war is to take his words lightly.

His apocalyptic threat comes after Poland’s former foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski reportedly called for the transfer of nukes to President Zelensky to strengthen his defense.

“With such deputies, Europeans will have much more serious problems than they faced today (refugees, record inflation, energy crisis),” Volodin, the head of the Steateduma, told Telegram.

‘Sikorski is provoking a nuclear conflict in central Europe. He does not think about the future of Ukraine nor Poland.

‘If its proposals are implemented, these countries, like Europe, will disappear.

‘He needs to be examined by a psychiatrist, pass on the mandate and stay at home under supervision.

“It is precisely because of people like Sikorski that it is necessary not only to liberate Ukraine from the Nazi ideology, but also to demilitarize it, in order to guarantee the non-nuclear status of the country.”

No Western leaders have so far suggested arming Ukraine with nuclear weapons and it is unclear whether Poland has plans to do so.

Mr Sikorski told the Ukrainian channel Espreso TV that the Russian president had violated the 1994 Budapest Security Insurance Memorandum, which promised to respect the territorial integrity of Ukraine, the Sun. reported.

He said this breach would justify the supply of nuclear weapons from the West.

Ukraine agreed to surrender all the cores stationed in the country after the fall of the Soviet Union.

In a Twitter post addressed to Mr Volodin, Mr Sikorski said: ‘You have promised Ukraine to respect its borders in 1994 in exchange for its nukes.

‘You’re colonizing them now and you’re threatening both Ukraine and NATO with your nukes.

“We just want you to know that if you use them, we have options.”

Shortly after the invasion of Russia in February, Putin shifts his nuclear powers on high alertreferring to ‘aggressive statements’ by NATO and harsh financial sanctions.

May also saw the Kremlin move nuclear-capable missiles towards the Russian border with Finland over the Scandinavian country’s plan to join the Atlantic Alliance.
