“I was one of the first transmodels in the mainstream, so I had to meet with the opposition. But since then there have been so many LGBTQ + personalities and influential people who have managed to continue the conversation, “she said.

“I think we still have a lot of work to do, but things have improved by leaps and bounds. When I started, people were like, “How weird! transsexual? You serious?!”

Carrera said he was looking forward to the day when trans people would not be treated as “taboo”.

“Trans people have been marginalized and ostracized in society for so long that many people don’t know how to embrace a trans person,” she said.

“I have met so many people in whom we are great friends in everyday life, but once they realize that I am a trance, the energy changes and they are strange.

“I would like to see us reflected in front of a camera so that the world can understand that we can exist in real spaces and that we have real lives. We are not some hidden thing that should be brought out only for shocking value.
