Police officers were fired after receiving two packs of Jaffa Cakes from Charity Stall without paying the full amount.
PC Chris Dwyer, 51, claimed to have paid just £ 10 for a chocolate-covered treat, but paid the correct amount of £ 1 when challenged by a colleague.
Then he “changed and decorated” his story when quized about it, saying he couldn’t remember which coin he put in the charity can at the Halifax police station.
West Yorkshire police said a female police officer emptied a charity shop cash can and exchanged a pound of float around 10 pm on January 21st.
Thirty minutes later, PC Dwyer allegedly received two packets of Jaffa Cakes, 50 pence each, and did not leave the right amount.
A spokeswoman said, “I examined the cash cans and found that they contained coins of the same denomination, but with the addition of 2 x 5p coins.”
PCDwyer, who spent nearly 25 years in the Marines before joining the West Yorkshire police in 2017, said underpayment was a “real mistake.”
However, he was immediately dismissed Thursday after he was found guilty of serious illegal activity in a four-day illegal activity hearing.
Mark Long, a criminal police officer at the West Yorkshire Police Department of Professional Standards, said:
“Although the value of the items involved is recognized as very low, honesty and honesty are the basic qualities of being a police officer.
“An independent, legally qualified chairman discovered that a breach of his professional code of conduct constitutes a serious offense and he was dismissed from the military.”
Akbar Khan, who chaired the panel that convicted PC Dwyer, said his actions corresponded to “abuse of trust” and “caused distrust of police and services.”
He states: “The officer is only responsible for his own acts of fraudulent and criminal nature.
“His dishonest nature associated with underpayment of profitable items was to support a charity that he was fully aware of.”
