Wine Q&A: Where else can I buy Aldi’s sparkling Shiraz?

Teresa signed up after reading the 3 star review of Aldi’s Specially Selected Kooliburra Australian Sparkling Shiraz (£6.99 Aldi) to ask where else to buy this wine as she is out of stock at her local Aldi store could find.

This sparkling red wine made from the Shiraz grape variety is a great choice for celebrations and gatherings of all kinds because this fun fizz not only tastes good but gets the conversations going as guests see red foam atop their wine glasses rather than the pale green fizzy concoction they were expecting from all other sparkling wines.

The flavors of cherry cola and black coffee are versatile enough to pair with canapés and snacks, as well as spicy dishes like curry dips and grilled meats – simply chill the wine in the fridge for half an hour before opening if Chili is on the menu says. Drinking red wines chilled isn’t as uncommon as you might think, and warmer countries often consume red wines this way, sometimes even adding ice cubes to chill the drink even further.

Unfortunately Aldi’s version isn’t currently in stock, but Virgin Wines is selling a similar wine, the sparkling Shiraz Woolundry Road, for £11.99. There are also some well known brands offering sparkling Shiraz with Jacob’s Creek at Waitrose £10.75 and McGuigan at Sainsbury’s £7.50. If you have a local independent wine merchant nearby, they may stock a similar wine as well.
