Top ten readers’ rosés

MatureTimes and WineUncorked readers are right on trend with their rosé choices, and chose Kylie Minogue’s pink Prosecco to top it all off Search for rosé wine reviews.

The Australian singer’s Italian fizz is winning the hearts of wine lovers not only with the heart-topped bottle, but also with sales of £7.7million – making her rosé the best-selling British Prosecco with a big name.

But what other rosés make it into the top ten Reader Rosés of 2022?

Coming second is Co-op’s £9 Brisarosa Spanish Rosé, with its sweet and sour aromas of strawberry opal. And more Co-op visits are planned, as the readers’ poll shows. Fourth is the salmon-colored La Luciole Rosé, while the slightly fizzy South African Stormhoek Moscato Rosé catches the eye at number ten with its low alcohol content of 5.5%.

But the nation’s favorite supermarket, Aldi, wasn’t neglected either, as three of its rosé wines were top reader searches.

The five-star review winner, Aldi Moscato Rosé, tops the taste list but ranks 5th. Its low alcohol content of 7% and juicy sweetness are combined with a lovely floral scent reminiscent of lavender.

But what about the other supermarkets? Only Asda’s own brand Extra Special Cotes de Provence Rosé 2020 makes the top ten, while their £4.50 Nice Drop White Zinfandel is not quite there in the wine search lists. Maybe later in the year? Top ten readers’ rosés

Kylie Minogue Rosé Prosecco
£9 Asda, Morrisons, £12 Tesco, Sainsbury’s
The wine has a good level of effervescence that hides the light lemon sorbet and apple aromas.

Brisarosa Limited Edition Rosé
£9 co-op
A delicate salmon pink rosé with aromas of strawberry opal fruits. Sweet and sour aromas of creamy apple and lemon follow.

Bruce Jack Sauvignon Rouge 2021
£5.75 Asda, £7 Sainsbury’s
With its orange-pink colour, it looks like a rosé but tastes like a Sauvignon Blanc. That’s because this blush-style pink is made primarily from the white Sauvignon Blanc grape with some Shiraz from the red grape. The result is refreshing light orange and lime aromas.

La Luciole Rosé 2018
£10 co-op
This pretty pale salmon pink rosé has aromas of strawberry leaves and almonds while the aromas are more white wine with apple astringency.

Aldi Moscato Rosé 2020
£4.99 Aldi (in store only, sold out online)
A deliciously sweet, low alcohol rosé with tangerine aromas.

Aldi Oregon Pinot Blanc 2020
€12.99 Aldi
There’s plenty of fruity pear with sweeter peach and some fresh lemon to balance things out.

Aldi Special Selected Toscan Rosé 2020
€6.99 Aldi (no longer available)
Organic with apple and lemon flavor.

The Hidden Sea Rosé 2021
£9 Sainsbury’s
More of a bright red than rosé, made from a blend of white and red grape varieties: Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Flavors of creamy apple with hints of lemon and raspberry.

Asda Extra Special Cotes de Provence Rosé 2020
£9 Asda
It looks like the classic Provence rosé with its pale pink color, but the flavor is a lot more robust than you might think. The creamy almond apple pie and bubblegum flavor goes well with many dishes and not just for sipping socially.

Stormhoek Moscato Petillant Sweet Rosé
£4 co-op
With just 5.5% alcohol and just a touch of sparkle (or petillant), this sweet rosé wine made from the aromatic Moscato grape variety is an easy sip best enjoyed straight from the fridge.
