OSCE Representative on Media Freedom: UK Response

Madam chair,

Thanks to the representatives for media freedom (RFoM), Teresa Ribeiro, her report. We welcome this fall’s report, which focuses on the description of her work. This provides a good counter-argument to her spring report, which was more analytical in form.

The current report is RFoM And her staff has worked on behalf of all participating countries.UK welcome RFoMParticipation in various regional and thematic conferences recently, and visits to her country.Like below RFoM, We agree on the importance of direct contact with national authorities, as well as senior politicians, media outlets and civil society. Also welcome RFoMWe continue to focus on the safety of journalists. This is a continuing concern in the OSCE region. NS Working on the safety of online female journalists Should be especially admired – use RFoMMaterials for a wide range of training and educational programs demonstrate the importance and quality of this work.

Also welcome RFoMFocuses on disinformation that threatens democracy, security, and the broader social cohesion of the OSCE region. It’s a remarkable and complex subject. The same is true of the issue of legal harassment, where behavior in both civil and criminal areas is a concern.

Madam chair,

It’s a shame, but it’s understandable. RFoM The dark situation about media freedom in the OSCE region continues.I’m preparing to celebrate the 25th anniversary of next year RFoMIt is important for us to collectively remind ourselves of the importance of the role of RFoM.. It continues to be an important institution for the OSCE region. Its success depends on all participating countries providing the direct, open and productive contacts that RFOM needs.

Teresa, thank you for your efforts and reiterate the UK’s full support for the important work done by you and your talented staff.

thank you very much
