NewTek Unveils Innovative New Lesson Acquisition Technology

US-based hardware and software company NewTek announced the release of CaptureCast; a multi-input, multi-room live recording and streaming technology designed to promote participation between remote and hybrid students.

The IP-based lecture capture and micro-broadcast system can connect teachers in any classroom on campus to students tuning in from anywhere in the world, thanks to NDI®, the globally standardized video-over-IP technology.

CaptureCast can connect camera apps on mobile devices, software screen capture and thousands of other compatible devices. Using NDI, CaptureCast also incorporates direct connection with video communication applications, including Microsoft® Teams and Zoom.

With educational institutions increasingly pressing to deliver high-quality, impactful videos to engage remote students, CaptureCast enables students to access content in real time and review and revise it on demand.

CaptureCast aims to improve live streaming and recording of lessons and lectures by automating the entire record stream enrichment process. It moves between different settings for a given class, at a preprogrammed schedule or schedule, and maps the acquired content to common learning or content management systems, without any input from the teaching or IT staff.

The technology also ensures that each session is enriched with metadata; keyword coding, data extraction from presentations and spoken words, all made available to students to help them gain better access to the content.

William Waters, Head of Product Management at NewTek, said, “Video is integrated into every area of the company and in today’s world anyone can watch the camera and connect to an audience. Micro-broadcasting has become a “must have” in education to meet the growing need to provide remote student assistance and to set up flexible / hybrid instructional classrooms to provide an enhanced experience for distance students. “
