Jamal Edwards died at the age of 31.

The music pioneer and YouTuber is best known for founding a youth film and film production company SB.TV.

Jamal, the son of English singer and TV personality Brenda Edwards, has died unexpectedly.

Since then, the deceased has been praised on social media, including by Jamal’s mother’s co-star “Loose Women” Denise Welch.

Denise wrote: “My heart aches for my friend Brenda. I can’t stand it. Jamal Edwards was a wonderful son and brother.”

Many in the music industry and beyond paid tribute to Jamal after the news of his death.

The star helped launch the careers of artists such as Dave, Ed Sheeran and Jesse Jay, and his online urban music platform SBTV was widely known.

Jamal is known to have achieved a lot in his 31 years, including being awarded an MBE in 2014.

The talented star was awarded Best New Startup by Virgin Media and Virgin StartUp in 2015 and was named on Debret’s list of the 500 most influential people in the UK in the New Media section.

Jamal was close to many celebrities, including Ed Sheeran, whom he wished a happy birthday on in his latest Instagram post.

Three days before his death, he shared a photo with Ed and wrote: “Happy Birthday to OG, Ed. Blessed to have you in my life, brother. You know you’ve been friends for a long time when you lose track of years! Keep breaking it and inspiring us all. “

Jamal was appointed an entrepreneur at a residence at the University of Sussex in September 2021 and also received an honorary degree from the University of West London.

He also presented a documentary on the mental health and music industry, and discussing his battle with anxiety, the late star said: “Anxiety overwhelms me at the most random moments. I wanted to create awareness. As much as music is my starting point, I feel a responsibility to talk about these other issues. I wanted to make people talk to each other and they were, I’m happy. “
