The reason vinegar works well is because it breaks down food, dirt, soap scum, and residues left in the dishwasher.

It also helps to sterilize the machine and flush grease, lime and deposits from the pipe prior to its next use.

Others help get rid of the stubborn odor, so it’s a good idea to put a handful of baking soda in the dishwasher before doing it.

Thousands of people who saw Chantel’s hack were impressed with it and said they would certainly clean their dishwasher deeply.

A shocking photo shared in January revealed why the dishwasher filters need to be cleaned at least once a month.

The photo shared on Facebook shows a cylindrical filter spotted with a layer of small black dots and a solid white crust.

The mother shared a photo with her Facebook group in Australia to warn others about dirt and “black mold” that seemed to build up on the machine in a short period of time.

A few minutes later, the mother said she would immerse the filter in a dishwashing tablet in water to remove mold residue and then return the filter to the machine.

Prolonged exposure to black mold spores can cause a myriad of health problems, including nausea, vomiting, and bleeding in the lungs and nose.

“I usually throw away moldy stuff, but I can’t really do this here,” the mother added.
