Struggles: Melissa Lawson, 32 (pictured), reveals a fight against “severe postpartum depression and anxiety” after welcoming her fiancé Bryce Ruthben and her twin sons Levi and Tate.

“For twins, it’s just changing diapers, feeding, belching, laying down. And basically when it’s all done, the cycle starts after 45 minutes. Very time. It took.”

“I hadn’t left home for about a week. I didn’t step out of the door and it really just got on top of me.”

“It’s only been a few weeks since they got home.

“I’m aware that I’m going back to these old habits and trying to be the best mother I can.”

“But because of the past of depression and anxiety, I flagged the nurse before giving birth, so now I can clearly see the onset of postpartum depression, but I hope it goes on. I’m doing everything I can to prevent it.

“Once you enter a black hole, it can be very difficult to get out.”

Melissa said she didn't step outside the house after taking the twin boys home from the NICU.

Melissa explained that she has been suffering from sleep deprivation since she took her twins home earlier this month.

“After talking to the nurse, there was a day when I broke down, and I was just sleeping nothing, and everything was just like stacking on top of me.

“As I said, I love sleep. And that’s not what I can have at the moment … sleep deprivation is true.”

“It can sometimes be really, really difficult, and I don’t think it will be easy until they get a little older.”

When asked what her favorite part about becoming a new mom, Melissa quickly answered “everything.”

“Sleep deprivation also makes me cry when I wake up in the middle of the night, but I just look at the baby’s face, and it’s all worth it,” she said.

The couple had twins on October 16th.

The baby was taken to the NICU and treated in the hospital for almost two months before being taken home earlier this month.
