Musician Macy Gray has been accused of attacking the American flag, which she believes is “tattered, outdated, and fragmented.”
The singer addressed her irritation with Old Glory in an editorial in honor of Juneteenth.

Next, she compared the “Stars and Stripes” with the “Stars and Stripes” flag, which represents the Confederates.
“Like the Confederates, it’s tattered, outdated, split, and incorrect.”
She added: “It no longer represents democracy and freedom. It no longer represents all of us. It is not fair to be forced to respect it.
“It’s time for a new flag.”
The effort was quickly ridiculed by many politicians.
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem told Gray “No Thanks.”
She continued: “Old Glory still eaves as a symbol of freedom and justice for all.”
Colorado Republican Lauren Boebert even said that if you were against the flag, you would find something you like and move there.
“There are 195 countries in the world,” Bobert tweeted. “194 of them do not have the American flag.
“if @MacyGraysLife Or, if someone else hates the American flag badly, they should choose their favorite flag and live in a country that flies it! “
Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs reiterated that feeling.
“If you don’t like the American flag, feel free to leave,” his tweet said.
Musicians preemptively answered that many might ask immediately: why?
Gray claimed that the composition of the flag was flawed.
She claims to be missing two 50 stars. Specifically, it cites the pursuit of both Washington, DC and Puerto Rico states.
And the white “stripes” of the flags she quotes cite Smithsonian’s evidence that they symbolize “purity and innocence.”
“America is great. It’s beautiful,” she writes. “Pure, not. It’s broken and broken.”
Then she asked: “What if the stripes were off-white?
“What if the stars were the colors of all of us, like the scales of melanin, your skin color and my color?”
The blue squares and red stripes seemed to retain some shape.
The blue squares she wrote represent “alertness and patience,” and the red stripes represent “courage.”
“America is all of them,” the editorial reads.
“So what if the flag element remains? What if the flag looks like this?”
And when it contains a fully rendered version of the American flag with 52 stars in different shades to replace the original white.
The striped pattern was darkened to a shade of gray.
And the red striped background was a more translucent shade overlaid on the map.
To conclude her call for a flag fix, she suggested that what she was pushing was not unprecedented.
She pointed out how the flag was changed in 1959 by a teenager named Bob Heft.
