Macron will soon discuss Ukraine with Putin

TEHRAN (Reuters) – French President Emmanuel Macron has said he plans to hold another round of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the coming days to discuss the situation in Ukraine.

“I expect a new conversation with President Putin in the next 48-72 hours,” Macron said after a meeting of the Council of Europe in Brussels on Friday, adding that a humanitarian operation in Mariupol would be among the issues discussed, TASS reported.

On February 7, Macron visited Moscow to hold talks with the Russian President. The next day, the French leader visited Ki! After the Moscow talks, Putin and Macron maintain regular telephone contacts. The previous telephone conversation took place on March 22.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24 that in response to a request from the leaders of the Donbas republics, he had decided to launch a special military operation in Ukraine, emphasizing that Moscow has no plans to occupy Ukrainian territories.

Putin said that the goals of the operation are the demilitarization and denationalization of Ukraine. Then the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and a number of other countries began to impose sanctions on Russian individuals and companies.
