Jonjo Shelvey praised Eddie Howe’s style as “much more exciting and fun” than playing under Steve Bruce.
Rocky-bottomed Newcastle continued to attack during their first match against Boshow’s Brentford in search of their first victory — But in the end I drew 3-3.
And Toon’s midfielder, 29, said:
“Obviously, I don’t want to concede and draw three people at home.” But it’s much more exciting and fun than just sitting and defending.
“For fitness and sharpness, he gave us a 5% extra charge and a rocket behind us.
“It’s only a matter of time before you get your first win.”
He recently voted for confidence in midfielder Shelvey.
Howe states: “Actually working with him reveals that he is a great technician and can play long and short passes across the pitch.
“He is the person I saw in terms of our philosophy and the way we play, and he will be very important to us as the season progresses.”
In response, Shelvey said:
“I wanted to repay him on Saturday, so I wanted to keep repaying him as long as he was here. We had a great relationship.”
