Grieving Jimmy Barnes loses three loved ones in two weeks, but vows to celebrate their lives: “I don’t want to be depressed”
Jimmy Barnes said goodbye to his sister, mother-in-law and close friend in May all two weeks.
And in an interview with The Daily Telegraph on Saturday, the legendary rocker says he wants to celebrate the lives of his lost loved ones as he embarks on his anniversary Soul Deep 30 tour, which begins next week.
“I don’t want to be depressed,” said Jimmy, 66.

“I have to go out and celebrate life and celebrate music and the soul, and that’s family.”
In May, Jimmy lost Cusumfor Visutipol, his wife Jane’s mother, not after the singer announced the death of his sister Linda Barnes on May 12.
On May 30, Jimmy said goodbye to Warren Costello, CEO and close friend of Mushroom Group’s longtime managing director.
“I’ve been talking to Warren every fucking day for 35 years,” Jimmy said. “I was in the room when he took his last breath.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Jimmy, who was undergoing therapy, spoke about the importance of not allowing his mourning to cause depression.
He said he wanted to celebrate people who mean so much to him, not locked in mourning.
The founder of Cold Chisel was moved by the support of fans and followers after experiencing what he called a “difficult and unbearable week” when his sister Linda died.

Jimmy has not publicly shared the cause of Linda’s death, but his brother John Swan has revealed Facebook on Friday that she had multiple sclerosis.
“Thank you for all your condolences on the death of my beautiful sister Linda,” the Scottish-born Australian artist wrote next to a photo of herself holding a vase of flowers.
Jimmy Barnes’ mother-in-law died just days after the rocker canceled a series of shows due to a “very serious illness in the family.”
More grief: In May, Jimmy lost Kusumforn Visutipol (pictured), his wife Jane’s mother, not after the singer announced the death of his sister Linda Barnes on May 12.
“Our families’ lives have been richer because of this beautiful woman,” Jimmy wrote, sharing the sad news on Instagram.
“Jane, me and our children now all need to be together elsewhere in the coming days as we all say goodbye unexpectedly to someone we love,” Barnes tweeted on May 24.
“This decision was not taken lightly, but we believe that people will understand that in moments like this, the family really has to come first.”
Jimmy and Jane were married in 1981 and have four children – son Jackie and daughters Mahalia, Eliza-Jane and Eli-May. He is also the father of a son, David Campbell.
He was always there: on May 30, Jimmy said goodbye to the CEO of the recording industry and a close friend of Warren Costello (pictured), longtime managing director of Mushroom Group.
