Melania Trump and Ivanka Trump made a rare joint public appearance Thursday, joining Donald Trump as he rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange.
The president’s other daughter, Tiffany Trump, was also in attendance.
The president-elect was surrounded by people celebrating his big moment as he began trading stocks for the first time. Trump made a name for himself as a New York real estate mogul.
Vice President-elect J.D. Vance and Cabinet nominees and allies Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Scott Bessent, Doug Burgum, Ben Carson, Kelly Loeffler, Pam Bondi, Elise Stefanik and Lee Zeldin also attended his big day.
The group surrounded the president as he delivered opening remarks before the official bell rang.
‘thank you very much. This is a great honor. I brought some of my countrymen with me, and they’re going to do a great job for you over the next four years,” President Trump said.
Vance stands between Melania and Ivanka, and the pair are said to have a tense and sometimes competitive relationship. Tiffany, who is pregnant with her first child, stood next to her sister.

Each woman wore a power pantsuit for the occasion. Melania wore gray with a white shirt, while Ivanka and Tiffany both wore black.
Melania Trump has rang the bell before. When she was first lady, she did this as part of the promotion for her “Be Best” campaign.
President Trump acknowledged that his wife beat him to the honor first, noting that she was “very popular” as first lady.
“She rang the bell,” he said.
When the official bell rang, the two women stood apart again and applauded as President Trump pressed the button to begin day trading. Time Inc. CEO Jessica Sibley stood between them.
There was applause on the stock floor and traders chanted “USA, USA, USA.”
Trump has vowed to restore the American economy as president. Voters blamed President Joe Biden for high inflation and high food prices.
Trump rang a bell to celebrate being named Time’s Person of the Year.
The president-elect soaked in the moment, thanking Time magazine and New York Stock Exchange Chairman Jeff Sprecher in a speech before the bell rang.

He also talked about the next president, boasting that it would be a “tremendous run.”
“I think we’re going to have a great run. We have to solve some big problems in the world. When we started, none of these problems existed. Russia and Ukraine, Israel. We didn’t have October 7, we didn’t have the Afghanistan disaster, we didn’t have inflation. And our economy was doing very well. And we did the same thing again. “I will,” he said.
President Trump will be inaugurated on January 20th.

This is the second time Trump, 78, has been named Person of the Year. He also earned this title in 2016 after winning his first presidential election.
This comes after Trump dominated the headlines for the past 12 months with his third bid for the White House and decisive victory last month.
The president-elect survived a near-assassination attempt in July and became the first U.S. president to be convicted in May.
Every year since 1927, the magazine has named the person, group, or concept that has had the “greatest impact, for better or worse, on the world over the past 12 months.”
President Trump said in an interview that his stunning victory was because he “got on a nerve with the country…The country was angry.”
Trump joins 13 other U.S. presidents who have been named Person of the Year, including the most recent President Biden, who earned the title in 2020.
Seven of these presidents, excluding Trump, have been named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year multiple times.

Trump has long had an obsession with appearing on the cover of Time magazine.
Marc Benioff, chairman of Time and CEO of Salesforce, endorsed Trump in the election. He and Ivanka Trump are longtime friends and worked together on the Trillion Trees campaign during the first Trump administration.
Ivanka served as a senior adviser to her father during his first four years in the White House, but will not officially join the administration.
There were also reports that she and Melania Trump had a war during Trump’s first administration.
At the time, Ivanka was eyeing office space in the East Wing and was considering renovating the area to accommodate offices for the entire Trump family. Melania stopped him.
