Football fans with restraining orders must surrender their passports before the World Cup.british news

More than 1,300 people covered by the football ban will be forced to turn their UK passports over to the police under new measures implemented today.

If any of the 1,308 banned players wish to travel to another country between November 10th and the end of the tournament, they will be required to seek permission to hold their passports and undergo a check.

Home Secretary Suera Braverman said: “We look forward to supporting England and Wales in Qatar and will not allow the actions of a few lawbreakers to spoil an exciting tournament.

“We are taking this decisive approach because violence, abuse and disorder will not be tolerated here and this criminal behavior will not be tolerated at the World Cup.

“As with all events of this kind, we are working closely with the organizing authorities to ensure the safety of the UK public attending and to ensure a successful and enjoyable event.”

According to the Ministry of Interior, precautionary measures have been taken at international competitions so far, with the 2018 World Cup complying with 99% of the requirement that those with a football ban surrender their passports.
