IONOS gets permission for new UK data center-

The major data center will be built in Worcester Six, the flagship business park, after the Wichabon District Council approves a plan by leading real estate developer Stford.

The development of Plot 6 will provide 51,479 sq ft units to replace 1 & 1 IONOS Ltd, the largest data hosting company based in Europe.

The new site is IONOS and its subsidiary brand Fasthosts for UK and international customers, which will be a state-of-the-art energy-efficient data center totaling 38,501 square feet. Development also includes a 12,978-square-foot auxiliary office.

Edward Peel, Development Manager at Stoford, said: “With the approval of IONOS development, Worcester Six will be joined by another world-class operator.

“We believe this is the first data center to come to Wichabon and clearly show that IONOS, Europe’s largest cloud and hosting provider, is confident in the region and business parks.

“In addition to the excellent central location of Worcester Six, the availability of services installed on the site and the variety of routings have pioneered IONOS. We are proud to offer them this building.”

Achim Weiss, CEO of IONOS, said: “We are excited to start building the Worcester Six data center soon. Demand for cloud services is growing even more during these difficult times, and the new site offers a variety of hosting, computing, and new sites to customers across the UK. We will be able to provide a storage solution. We are very grateful that the Wichabon District Council approved our application very quickly. “

Richard Morris, Deputy Leader of Economic Growth and Portfolio Holder of the Wichabon District Council, said: Growth industry. I am looking forward to seeing the new center that will open next year. “

Councilor Kemporok, a minister in charge of economics and infrastructure at the Worcestershire County Council, said: This news is a testament to the team’s tireless efforts in the most difficult situations to maintain the county’s widespread progress in the areas of business development and growth.

“In recent years, data has become one of the most valuable products in the world, and the pandemic hasn’t changed this. Data center demand continues to be driven by the rapid adoption of cloud services and the emergence of business models. This development will not only solidify the Woster Six Business Park as a prestigious business hub, but also provide Wostershire with a very valuable asset and bring great economic benefits to the county. “

Founded in 1988, IONOS is Europe’s largest hosting company, managing over 8 million customer contracts and hosting over 12 million domains in regional data centers around the world. The IONOS Group operates in 15 countries around the world and employs 3,500 people worldwide.

Over the last two years, Worcester Six has welcomed Marmon Food and Beverage Equipment, Siemens, Spire Healthcare, Kimal and Kohler Mira to Worcester Six. When fully developed, the Business Park will offer 1.5 million square feet of accommodation.

Stford also obtained the consent of a 37,000-square-foot speculative unit in February this year. This can be delivered within 10 months.
