InspiringFifty: reveal the 50 best women in European technology

EQL: HER, the global network committed to ensuring an equal future for women in STEM, has revealed its “InspiringFifty” list of the 50 most influential women in Europe’s tech ecosystem.

With Google and PwC among its supporters, the InspiringFifty initiative celebrates and amplifies the diverse women in the field of technology to encourage women from all walks of life to follow in their footsteps.

Recent data has shown that as of March 2022, women still represent only 19% of the European tech workforce. EQL: HER has a mission to change this by providing role models that reflect the rich diversity of society and thereby inspiring the next generation of leading women in the technology sector.

With a jury of stellar women including Jacqueline de Rojas CBE – President of techUK and Janet Coyle – MD of Business Growth at London & Partners, InspiringFifty attracted nearly 600 applicants from across Europe.

Those joining InspiringFifty include: Abadesi Osunsade, founder and CEO of Hustle Crew; Dr. Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE, founder of Stemettes (pictured); Dr. Gioia Rau, researcher at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center; Baroness Joanna Shields OBE, CEO of BenevolentAI; Nicola Mendelsohn, VP of the Global Business Group of Meta; and Sonali De Rycker, Partner of Accel.

Elka Goldstein, CEO of EQL: HER, said, “We are delighted to announce our InspiringFifty winners today and to give some of the incredible women in our ecosystem the credit they deserve.

“Our judges did not have an easy task in reducing our final InspiringFifty and I hope that highlighting these women’s achievements will inspire budding young leaders from all walks of life to know that they can – and will – achieve theirs. objectives even when the odds don’t seem in their favor ”.

Jacqueline de Rojas CBE, President of techUK, said: “Role models and representation are key to ensuring that diverse talent can be reflected in the organizations that are trying to recruit them. However, it is one thing to argue that companies offer equal opportunities. and demonstrate diversity, but it is another thing for colleagues to feel that they belong.

“It’s the smallest steps that will lead to change. I know firsthand how important it is to be supported and to have a network and I am proud of the work InspiringFifty is doing to raise the voices of those around us and to create space for this conversation during London Tech Week ”.
