InferSens Secures £ 870,000 Pre-Seed Investment Led by RO Capital Partners – UK Technology Investment News

RO Capital Partners (“ROCP”), the venture capital arm of the RO group, announces that it has led a round of investments in InferSens (or “the company”) together with the Oxford Innovation Fund and Bruce Melizan, the former CEO Interserve Division Support Services Delegate. ROCP’s contribution includes £ 309,000 of the total of £ 870,000 raised, which will be used as growth capital and to bring the product to market.

InferSens is a revolutionary liquid sensor company for artificial intelligence and machine learning that generates meaningful, real-time and easily accessible data. It can non-invasively monitor the flow of any liquid in the pipes and has made great strides in reducing the cost of such technology. The technology involves a small sensor that is installed on a pipe.

The activity is of particular interest to building owners who are legally required to control the flow of water in the buildings for Legionella, with a fixed monthly fee charged per sensor. Historically, the control of Legionella has involved the manual monitoring of water discharges, a laborious and costly process for the environment.

InferSens’ product can be deployed on pipelines of any size, including national infrastructure, providing a clear growth path for the business and seamlessly intersects machine learning, the Internet of Things (IoT) and clean technology. The ability to reduce manual flow testing in pipes greatly reduces the flow rate of waste, which means the technology will significantly increase environmental and sustainability scores for its users.

Edward Rowlandson, Group Managing Director, RO, said:

“As the owners of a large and diverse real estate portfolio, InferSens immediately stood out. We are thrilled to invest in the company and its world-class management team to bring to market a product that we believe will transform plant management and for which we can see a range of broader applications, setting new levels of environmental efficiency and waste reduction. “

Colin Payne, CEO of InferSens, commented:

“I am delighted that InferSens has been oversubscribed for its funding round; a true recognition of our cutting-edge technology at the IoT sensing and machine learning interface on the device. This key milestone for the company will enable the commercial launch of our ML-powered flow and temperature sensing technology, initially aimed at the major global challenge of protecting buildings from Legionella. We have been fortunate to attract a stellar mix of engaged investors, including experts in the mobile communications, real estate development, facilities management, corporate finance and technology start-up industries, eager to work with us to help us achieve the our ambitious goals. “

Mark Purnell, President of InferSens added:

“I am extremely proud to be a founding member of the InferSens team and the many significant achievements we have achieved since the beginning. Navigating successfully and securing this major round of funding is the latest such achievement and we are thrilled to embark on the next phase of our fantastic journey with the support of such a multi-talented lineup of impressive investors. “

Bruce Melizan concluded:

“I am extremely impressed with the InferSens team and their exceptional invention. A tremendous amount of transformation opportunities are being unleashed by the power of AI and IoT and InferSens has grasped its full practical potential and developed a tiny, highly cost-effective smart sensor that has the real ability to dramatically improve costs, efficiency and compliance of a vital aspect of FM’s daily operations: the control of Legionella bacteria in engineered water systems. I can’t wait to be part of the exciting InferSens journey. “
