Gwines Guthrie, the star of the Scottish drama “Take the High Road,” died at the age of 84.
Guthrie, known for playing Mrs. Mack with soap for a long time, died on Tuesday, her family announced.
Take The High Road was broadcast on Scottish television for 23 years from 1980, with episodes uploaded to STV players last year.
Set in the fictional village of Glenda Rock, it was shot in Las on the shores of Loch Lomond.
Guthrie’s family said:
“She quietly passed by at home on Tuesday, November 9, and was surrounded by her beloved family.
“She will play for the next audience in heaven.”
In honor of the actress, Bobby Hein, managing director of broadcasting at STV, said:
“For 20 years, Gwines played the iconic character of Mrs. Mack on Take the High Road, bringing her own amazing comic timing and dramatic talent, and loved her all over the UK.
“Our thoughts and sympathy are in her family during this sad time.”
