Figura Analytics, a nanotechnology business, announced today that it has raised £ 180,000 as seed round funding from private investors and SFC Capital, one of the UK’s leading early investors.
The company spun out from Loughborough University in January 2021 and received an Innovate UK grant to expedite testing aimed at helping the beverage industry improve the quality and consistency of raw materials and finished products. Developed a technology platform.
Figura’s nanopore technology uses microfluidics, sensors, and software algorithms to recognize and characterize particles suspended in solution. Figura’s rapid analysis technology has many uses in beverage manufacturing, from flavor and filter analysis to the replacement of traditional microbiological testing.
Figura’s academic founders Mark Platt and Rhush Magi have spent years developing low-cost, easy-to-use technology formats. This technology made rapid progress in 2020 through Innovate UK’s Innovate UK University Research Innovation to Commercialization (ICURe) program, and Figura was founded in January 2021. They are already working with domestic and international beverage industry partners to further develop their technologies and processes. Manufacturing technology center ready to start commercial production in 2022.
