An independent Vaccine Advisor from the Food and Drug Administration voted in favor of Pfizer and BioNTech’s approval of the Covid-19 vaccine for children ages 5-11.
Panel members voted 17-0 and recommended this shot with a single abstention.
Data presented by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at a panel meeting on Tuesday show that children aged 5 to 11 are “at least as” likely to be infected with Covid-19 as adults, and surveillance tests are for pediatric cases. Suggests that is widely underreported. Hospitalization rates are also three times higher for colored children than for white children, highlighting the racial disparity found in adult patients.
