Anthony Fauche, chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, tested positive for Covid-19, the agency said Wednesday.
The 81-year-old infectious disease specialist, who for many has become the face of the government’s corovirus response, is experiencing mild symptoms, according to a statement from the National Institutes of Health. He is fully vaccinated and has received two boosters.
Fauch “will be isolated and will continue to work from home,” the NIH said, adding that he had not had close contact with Biden or other senior officials recently.
