Singer Ronnie Spector died at the age of 78 after a “simple battle” with cancer, her family confirmed.

Known for his 1960s hits “Be My Baby” and “Baby, I Love You,” the singer was surrounded by his family and husband Jonathan when he died today.

Her family announced this news in a statement. “Our beloved Earth angel, Ronnie, left this world peacefully today after a short battle with cancer. She was in the arms of her husband Jonathan with her family.

“Ronnie lived her life with sparkling eyes, a cheerful attitude, a wicked sense of humor, and a smile. She was full of love and gratitude.

“Her fun sounds, playful nature, and magical presence keep her alive for everyone who knows, hears, or sees her.

“Instead of flowers, Ronnie has requested a donation to your local women’s shelter or the American Indian College Fund.

“Ronnie’s life and musical celebrations will be announced in the future.

“At this point, families respectfully seek privacy.”

Ms. Specter, whose real name is Veronica Yvette Bennett, formed The Ronettes with her sister Estelle Bennett and her cousin Nedra Talley.

Her husband Phil SpectorShe was married from 1968 to 1972, and also set a record for them.

He died of COVID last year while serving a minimum of 19 years in prison for murdering actress Lana Clarkson.

After signing the record deal, the group released a number of successful hits, but they broke up in early 1967.

Ms. Specter pioneered her solo career and released five studio albums.

She then reformed the Ronettes in 1973, but their new record couldn’t influence the charts.

After that, the singer continued to work as a solo artist instead.

She joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007 as a member of The Ronettes.
