Faith and Science: Towards COP26

Within the framework of the British President in collaboration with Italy at the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP26, the Holy See embassies of the United Kingdom and Italy will convene a conference of religious leaders and scientists, along with the Holy See. Rome will gain momentum at COP26 in the fall of 2021 and will be held in Glasgow from November 1st to 12th, 2021.

The conference will be held after the Preparatory COP26 event in Milan. World Congress “Youth 4 Climate: Driving Ambition” and Pre-COP26 (September 28-October 2, 2021) dedicated to young people.

The purpose of the conference is to clarify our common obligation of religious leaders to address climate change and encourage governments to increase their ambitions for their national contributions to achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement. Is to do. Show how faith is leading by greening their own activities and making new promises at the central and local levels. And encourage loyal people to take action to slow the rise in global temperatures. Faith leaders played an important role in creating the conditions for the success of COP21 in 2015, and many of them talked about the common responsibilities of those of the faith who care for the entire creation.

In preparation for this event, the British and Italian embassies, along with the Holy See, are convening a series of virtual conferences. The first event took place on February 4th. The British and Italian embassies have asked Wilton Park, the executive body of the Foreign, Commonwealth Development Office in London, to facilitate this preparatory process.

The hashtag for this event is # Faiths4COP26
