England vs Germany LIVE: Latest Euro 2022 final score and updates as Lionesses top but scoreless at Wembley

Euro 2022: Back on the course of the Lionesses until the final

England host Germany in the final of Euro 2022 tonight, with Wembley hosting the Lionesses in a bid to end 56 years of suffering. A thrilling run to the final, tonight will see record crowds at Wembley, while millions across the country will watch on TV and in pubs. Sarina Wiegman could lead an England team to their first major tournament win since England’s men won the World Cup in 1966.

And in a fitting repeat of history, the Three Lions’ opponents 56 years ago were Germany, also at Wembley, meaning there’s another layer of intrigue to this storied rivalry. England have been both impressive and entertaining to watch in recent weeks, put on a brilliant performance to beat Sweden 4-0 in the semi-finals. While Germany rather kept pace, improving their performance throughout the Euro, beat France 2-1 to set up this tantalizing clash against England.

England enjoyed a final training session on Saturday in preparation for tonight. Meanwhile, millions across the country line up behind England ahead of the final as Euro fever sets in. Follow all the latest Euro 2022 final updates:

Half: England 0-0 Germany

45+1 mins: Nothing to separate the teams as they head into the break. Both teams had periods of dominance in the first 45 minutes, but neither managed to break the deadlock.

On average, England are probably ahead of him in terms of scoring chances. More to come in the second half.

England 0-0 Germany

42 minutes: England end the half well. Ellen White battles with Marina Hegering before Lucy Bronze wins a corner. Lauren Hemp swings it but the ball is clear.

The Lionesses recycle him to Bronze who brings a cross back into the box to Fran Kirby but she can’t make a pass with a volley attempt and the ball bounces for a goal kick.

England 0-0 Germany

39 mins: Luck! A touch comes to Ellen White who controls the ball and puts it to the right side for Beth Mead to sprint behind.

She brings the ball into the box and shoots it towards the striker who narrowly shoots over the crossbar. He missed by a few centimeters at best.

England 0-0 Germany

36 mins: England slow play and retain possession. They try to play with the German press and create some space at the top for their riders to enter.

England 0-0 Germany

33 mins: Giulia Gwinn swings a cross into the box from the right side which Mary Earps comes out and confidently claims. She is cut off by Lea Schuller who gets talked into by the referee for her late arrival.

It’s not a yellow card foul, but the majority of the crowd want the referee to pull one back. When she doesn’t, she’s rewarded with a chorus of boos.

England 0-0 Germany

30 mins: England have their own penalty appeal after Stanway’s scuffed shot hit Lea Schuller on the top of the arm in the box. She couldn’t do much about it and her arms were at her sides, so no penalty is forthcoming.

England fans are not happy with the referee at all. England were punished for a few soft engagements in the last 10 minutes or so.

England 0-0 Germany

27 mins: Germany tries to take advantage of England’s drop in concentration. They win a corner and whip it into the penalty area.

Stanway lights him up and Mary Earps reaches out to stop him from crossing the line. There is a mad scramble that results in Leah Williamson making a block on the line before Earps jumps on it to smother the ball.

There is a potential VAR check for a handball against England during this scrum, but nothing more comes of it.

England 0-0 Germany

24 mins: Georgia Stanway gets into a 50/50 challenge with Sara Dabritz but the German gets to the ball first. Stanway catches her and she falls. The referee sees it as a cynical tackle to stop a counter-attack and shows a yellow card.

Another poorly timed tackle delivers another free kick for Germany and Ellen White is delighted. She has a word with the referee that puts her in the book too. This time for protest.

England need to keep a cool head here.

England 0-0 Germany

21 mins: Close! Mead delivers it once again but this crossover is flatter and has more pace. She finds Bronze who sends a header straight into the keeper’s hands.

Fantastic pressure from England. They started brilliantly.
