England squad: Billy Vunipola and Danny Care named for Australian tour

Billy Vunipola and Danny Care have been included in England’s squad for the Australia tour next month.

Vunipola offers a potential solution to by Eddie Jones crisis at number eight, with the powerful Saracens striker set to face the Wallabies next month.

Thanks to the wounds of Alex Dombrandt and Sam SimmondsVunipola could make their first international appearance since last year’s Six Nations.

Jones’ side will face the Wallabies over three matches, starting in Perth on July 2.

The announcement follows Sunday’s disappointing performance and heavy loss to the Barbarians, who lost 52-21 at Twickenham.

Reacting to his squad, Jones said: “Although we have ten players out through injury, we’ve picked a very strong team that can win the series.

“This team is a real mix of talented young players and very experienced senior players and we are looking forward to bringing the group together.

“This tour will be a great experience for the group and a crucial part of the team’s work towards the Rugby World Cup in 2023. We will continue to develop the base of the team and the way we want to play.

“We’ve put a lot of work into preparing for the tour over the past few weeks, but now the hard work really begins when we finally get the team on the plane and off to Australia.”
